earn your golden Asgard on a patch.

Image
While hunting for patches, we ran across this Marvel-ously Kirby-esque BSA jamboree hex design dedicated to the Norse Gods of Asgard! [scan via Patchscan.] #    #    # Guillermo Maytorena IV knew there was something special in  the Norse Lore when he picked up a copy of the d'Aulaires'  Norse Gods and Giants  at age seven. the volva's poisonous passport.

Henbane seeds, just like those found in the vǫlva's grave at Fyrkat, Denmark, are offered by AsatruApothecary on Etsy. Have any of you burnt these and inhaled the smoke? If so, did you travel the Nine Worlds ? #    #    # Guillermo Maytorena IV knew there was something special in  the Norse Lore when he picked up a copy of the d'Aulaires'  Norse Gods and Giants  at age seven. the NorsePlay logo!

Image
NorsePlay introduces our very own NorsePlay logo! We've re-imagined the triple horn design with upturned mouths, a dynamically wider space on the inside, and added woodcut style shading. Originally on the Snoldelev Runestone, the trihorn design is probably an icon for Óðrerir, Boðn, & Són , the three vessels that hold the all-inspiring Mead of Poetry , as related by the Prose Edda . [Applied to my Fifty/Fifty brushed stainless steel growler, vinyl sticker design available on request from Amy Dunloe at BelovedVikingVinyl on Etsy . Freyr's last stand.

Image
NorsePlay has long admired Sam Flegal's work so much we've featured it as our collection's banner from the beginning until now. The work is Freyr's Last Stand (2014). We love his take on the dwarven wrought golden boar Gullinbursti as a mechanical war steed . [Check out Flegal's other work & gets awesome prints at www.fatefulsigns.com .] #    #    # Guillermo Maytorena IV knew there was something special in  the Norse Lore when he picked up a copy of the d'Aulaires'  Norse Gods and Giants  at age seven. grab your Battleaxes.

Image
We spotted Vertigo Comics' Battleaxes (2000) in where the the Norse female grouping of mother-daughter team Hrotha & Freya, ultra-butch warriors Sigga & Bruna, and the mystical Skold decide to go mercenary. Any of you read these? #    #    # Guillermo Maytorena IV knew there was something special in  the Norse Lore when he picked up a copy of the d'Aulaires'  Norse Gods and Giants  at age seven. the Odinic watermelon.

Image
Forget hierophanies in tortillas or toast; here we have our Odin in a watermelon . Even in fruit, he's still winningly grim. [from a dead link on blastr. an inventive Norse Lore card catalogue.

Image
Our personal NorsePlay compelled us to create a library card catalogue of Norse Lore sources we wish existed. Perhaps they're still out there in a burial mound guarded by draugr, or in a dreki's horde just waiting to be found? Enlarge to read the details. [Out-of-production Rotring Persian Red ink on parchment cardstock, 10 mil laminated, tyvek hole reinforcers. (The awesome Dark Librarian core patch is the work of Daniel Davis of Steam Crow and placed here to also contextualize the catalogue as a Monster Rangers' achievement. Look them up at http://monsterrangers.com -- they're wayyyy cool.)] #    #    # Guillermo Maytorena IV knew there was something special in  the Norse Lore when he picked up a copy of the d'Aulaires'  Norse Gods and Giants  at age seven. seeing the All in Odin.

Image
Was listening to a video recently and someone said "Odin's the All-Father, Not the Some-Father." We felt that summed it up quite nicely. #    #    # Guillermo Maytorena IV knew there was something special in  the Norse Lore when he picked up a copy of the d'Aulaires'  Norse Gods and Giants  at age seven.
