skulls of the jotnar.

Given the Norse Lore, one might think this is possibly Thor's trophy room of jötnar skull s at Bilskirnir, or perhaps his gathered material for a borderland hunting lodge/nithing pile, and maybe that's Þjálfi at right trying to figure out how to organize his master's giant ossuary. Well, that's what my Heathen Worldview saw anyway, and one can sometimes argue a case for what personal contexts a viewer brings to a piece over artist's intent . This evocative art installation is Mass by Ron Mueck from  2016-2017 CE , detail (!), media of synthetic polymer paint on fiberglass. The Librarians accidentally crash a jötnar reunion.

Image
Okay, total spoiler which we dislike doing, but there's no way around it: While not the best episode of The Librarians , "And the Reunion of Evil" (season 3, 2016) includes a surprising jotun NorsePlay element where two librarians stumble from the heart of a snowstorm into a Swedish ski lodge hotel while possessing an artifact that a trucing private reunion of giant clans have gathered to consume. The jotun are presented as troublemaking descendants  of Loki, who instead revel in causing the ills of the world (disasters, plagues, insurance fleecing, etc), which is something of a downgrade as major adversaries of the Gods, but then it would explain how they've stayed under the radar for so long. The giants wear Scandinavian patterned sweaters, and some fur accent garments, while overdrinking and playing hnefatafl and k ubb in displays of oneupmanship. court that jötuness.

Image
There's a fair amount of attraction to the female of the jötunn species in the Norse Lore. This brave warrior may have a difficult suit ahead of him, but some ladies are worth the extra trouble. While forefather Ymir was never described as handsome, we suspect the nurturing milk of Auðhumbla may have imparted a beauty to some of his descendants. imagining the Hall of Útgarðr.

Image
One might imagine that when Thor, Loki, & Þjálfi enter the Jotuns' Hall of Útgarðr that it may have borne some resemblance to this dining room of Sorrisniva AS's ice hotel in Norway ... except considerably larger. Carved anew every year from ice & snow, the interiors are otherworldly & evocative. #    #    # Guillermo Maytorena IV knew there was something special in  the Norse Lore when he picked up a copy of the d'Aulaires'  Norse Gods and Giants  at age seven. you could be a Scion.

Image
Scion 's a tabletop roleplaying game where one plays a descendant of the gods who takes part in a war against the jotuns/titans/giants & their world-threatening representatives on earth, and one of the featured example heroes is this pictured son of Thor who wields a revolver that features a small piece of Mjölnir on, well, the gun's hammer . There's even a Scion: Ragnarok expansion book.
