Heimdall's job experience.

This circuit of references is so unknowingly witty we had to post it. So the NorsePlay here runs thusly: The above comment on   Idris Elba's music video (yeah, we didn't know he was also a singer/ rapper either) references Elba being  Sexiest Man Alive for 2018 and casts that implication humorously into  Marvel Heimdall 's past. Thing is the comment just happens to inadvertently reference the Lay of Rig (ahem) or  Rígsþula , the Eddic poem which tells how early on in the world Heimdallr smoothly slips his way betwixt three couples and fathers the three classes of human beings. So incidentally that post is also totally correct in terms of the Norse Lore, and possibly adds to our  Bifrost  guardian a saucy modern kenning. And this all-inclusive lineage also makes Heimdallr Yo Daddy, so respect him, and remember there's a bit of his divine smoothness & perceptivity in all of us. #    #    # Guillermo M...

Bifrost Under Maintenance.

Bifrost Under Maintenance. Please Proceed To Escalator . Marvel Heimdall cosplayer takes the moving stairway bridge instead. Possibly during Asgard's repairs between Thor & Thor: The Dark World ? Idris Elba: You had to have spotted this fanlove, yeah? Heimdall's cover art.

Image
Sweet cover art from the 1992 computer/console RPG game Heimdall . Loki has stolen the Gods' weapons, scattering them across the realms, and it's up to you as Heimdall to find them. The game itself is far more cartoonish than this fantasy art cover, but such was all early videogame marketing. Peter Lloyd's luminous Yggdrasil.

Image
Illustrator Peter Lloyd's depiction of the Norse Cosmos from National Geographic's Our Universe (1980). Lloyd (1944–2009) did alot of beautiful space & robot themed artwork, exploring a futurized art deco aesthetic, and even did some concept art for the original Tron . This image from one of our favourite childhood astronomy books is unforgettable. The one-eyed Odin at top left and giant-sized Heimdallr at the foot of the rainbow bridge are interesting style choices, as is the eagle emplaced as the canopy of Yggdrasil. gamepieces of the Gods.

Image
Eastern-European woodcarving style meets Lewis Chessmen-esque in this set of Norse Gods made by Triumpho . At 13 cm each, one could imagine that these are the golden gamepieces found in the grass after Ragnarök.
