an inventive Norse Lore card catalogue.

Image
Our personal NorsePlay compelled us to create a library card catalogue of Norse Lore sources we wish existed. Perhaps they're still out there in a burial mound guarded by draugr, or in a dreki's horde just waiting to be found? Enlarge to read the details. [Out-of-production Rotring Persian Red ink on parchment cardstock, 10 mil laminated, tyvek hole reinforcers. (The awesome Dark Librarian core patch is the work of Daniel Davis of Steam Crow and placed here to also contextualize the catalogue as a Monster Rangers' achievement. Look them up at http://monsterrangers.com -- they're wayyyy cool.)] #    #    # Guillermo Maytorena IV knew there was something special in  the Norse Lore when he picked up a copy of the d'Aulaires'  Norse Gods and Giants  at age seven. where Tolkien got his Middle-earth from.

Illustrator Sam Valentino's " Map of Midgard " from his Art Sam-ples blog. Made for The Making of Middle Earth book, the author wanted to show where Tolkien got the concept of "Middle-earth" as the name for the world, which is, of course, from the Norse Lore. And everything always goes back to Norse Lore. #    #    # Guillermo Maytorena IV knew there was something special in  the Norse Lore when he picked up a copy of the d'Aulaires'  Norse Gods and Giants  at age seven. see the cliff walls of Vanaheim.

Image
This modern Vanaheim meme we suspect might've been flip-flopped with the earlier Asgard one, since a formidable wall is more associated with the Aesir, though one could counterargue that the foundation rocks harmoniously integrate with the crenelated wall and the trees within the defenses would be a Vanir design. paper ships take trips, paper raids, making trades.

A Fearsome Fleet: Secrets of the Vikings features a sweet paper stop-motion animated Norse Mythology tie-in, along with neat shipbuilding secrets. the fate of Thor.

Image
Son of Odin by quetza (Jorge Garza) on DeviantArt, available as a shirt on TeePublic. While I wouldn't believe Thor having such a look of tired resignation, there's a Wagnerianly fateful pathos the artist has imparted to his face & forward slumped shoulders as he goes to meet Jormungand at the end of time in this Kirby-esque re-visioning. #    #    # Guillermo Maytorena IV knew there was something special in  the Norse Lore when he picked up a copy of the d'Aulaires'  Norse Gods and Giants  at age seven.
