So unless you bought the Cosmic Cube in a suitcase limited edition box set of the Phase 1 Marvel movies, you never saw this remade special silhouette art paper sleeve for the blu-ray of Thor . This is where NorsePlay has just saved you $200USD, and you could always print the above on a template to make one. You're welcome. (No, we didn't buy the fancy suitcase -- we instead have the 4K/BR steelbook combo pack, thank you.) #    #    # Guillermo Maytorena IV knew there was something special in  the Norse Lore when he picked up a copy of the d'Aulaires'  Norse Gods and Giants  at age seven. Bifrost Under Maintenance.

Bifrost Under Maintenance. Please Proceed To Escalator . Marvel Heimdall cosplayer takes the moving stairway bridge instead. Possibly during Asgard's repairs between Thor & Thor: The Dark World ? Thor in 4-D!

Image
NorsePlay would be remiss if we didn't mention the NorsePlay within the NorsePlay that happens in Thor: Ragnarok ... yet even nested deeper inside of that were you aware of the Thor: Ragnarok in 4D as NorsePlay?!? Yes, it just got that meta. #    #    # Guillermo Maytorena IV knew there was something special in  the Norse Lore when he picked up a copy of the d'Aulaires'  Norse Gods and Giants  at age seven. Thor's three draughts.

Image
Thor: Ragnarok taps Norse Lore for its bottomless beer mug scene: Whether Dr Strange knows it or not, Thor originally encounters a bottomless horn at a frost giant's court that magically refilled from the ocean ... but Thor doesn't know this and it's used to embarrass him in front of all the jötnar when he can't finish drinking it. Thor also unknowingly starts the endless ocean tides we still travel on today from the three godlike draughts he downed. "Another"? Maybe Strange should've insisted on the wee 4 oz Tibetan yak butter tea? #    #    # Guillermo Maytorena IV knew there was something special in  the Norse Lore when he picked up a copy of the d'Aulaires'  Norse Gods and Giants  at age seven. Loki versus Doctor Strange.

Image
There's a moment in Thor: Ragnarok that raises the question: What if Dr. Strange was foolish enough to tangle with God of Mischief Loki, a being who's been practicing sorcery for untold millennia longer than he? While Marvel Studios makes it look one way, we all know that either inside or outside of 177A Bleecker Street, Loki would gore out his Eye of Agamotto. Thor brings the rains ... and the hot buttered grains.

Image
Thor was also considered the farmer's god because his storms summoned the needed rains that watered the fields of grain. In this very modern case, $15 at Thor: Ragnarok brings a promotional keepsake bucket of movie popcorn with a lid styled after his Contest of Champions winged helmet! Gungnir takes pause at Marvel's Hela.

Image
Death Goddess Hela cross-vambrace blocks the spear that's supposed to always hit its mark, Gungnir, from the new blockbuster Thor: Ragnarok ! We saw it last night and loved it. Cate Blanchett finally gets to be the bad arse we all know she can be, Hemsworth wins some laughs, and Asgard will ne'er e'er be the same. #    #    # Guillermo Maytorena IV knew there was something special in  the Norse Lore when he picked up a copy of the d'Aulaires'  Norse Gods and Giants  at age seven. Thor as a job description.

Image
Aside from Marvel Thor being the longest-running NorsePlay around, the idea of Thor being a mantle instead of a being is an interesting one, and to compound that with a female worthy enough is very compelling, especially with the beautifully illustrated results by visual development artist John Staub. Of course Thor having to dress in drag as Freyja to win his hammer back from Jötunheimr is the precedent in Norse Lore, but Marvel's taking it one step further in both their comics & in  Thor: Love & Thunder , the fourth film of the series . #    #    # Guillermo Maytorena IV knew there was something special in  the Norse Lore when he picked up a copy of the d'Aulaires'  Norse Gods and Giants  at age seven. off doing godly things, of course.

Image
After watching Civil War a most-important question was raised: Where's Thor during all this "oh-no-it's-a-phone-book-sized-ream-of-paper-from-the-UN" business? He's off actually doing something important, like saving worlds from frost giants.
