NorsePlay Reviews: The Great Courses' Norse Mythology.

Image
Sometime in 2017 CE, NorsePlay left a plus-tagged Google+ comment that directed the educational company The Great Courses to Old Norse Philologist Jackson Crawford, and I suggested that they commission him to do a course for them. Now in 2022 CE, that very course has materialized, and I'd like to think that NorsePlay's comment as a cultural actor was responsible for making that happen. Pretty much within the first few weeks of release, I ponied up my $75 (yes, I know they often have $35 sales, but we wanted to review it now. This technical default totally makes NorsePlay more drengr. Yep, I said that Jackson! Get in that fancy truck and drive down from your AZ brother's house to Tucson to prove me wrong! Loser buys the mead and can use t...

We admire Norse studies expert Jackson Crawford's content, and raise our horn to this particular installment in acknowledging that NorsePlay in terms of variation & fanon started pretty much from the get-go. As we desire & request more Norse-inspired narratives, so did the arch-Heathens & subsequent generations ask the fireside skalds for sequels & team-ups and they delivered. #    #    # Guillermo Maytorena IV knew there was something special in  the Norse Lore when he picked up a copy of the d'Aulaires'  Norse Gods and Giants  at age seven.
