There's a tricky exchange in Moonrise Kingdom where precocious Lazy- Eye asks Scout Master Ward what he actually does for a living in order to undermine his authority by questioning his credentials, though it takes 1950s-raised straight-laced Ward a few lines to figure that out. Ward at first responds by saying he teaches math as a profession:  Lazy-Eye: What's your real job, sir?   Scout Master Ward: I'm a math teacher. Lazy-Eye: What grade?   Scout Master Ward: Eighth.   Lazy-Eye: Do you need a PhD for that?   Scout Master Ward: Lazy-Eye, no, but you know what? We're actually in the middle of something here, in case you didn't notice. One of our scouts is missing and that's a crisis. Anybody else? [...] Scout Master Ward [turns to Lazy-Eye]: I'm gonna change my answer, in fact. This is real my job. Scout master, Troop 55. Lazy-Eye's one-eyed-ness could just be a another quirky detail scripted by Wes Anderson & Roman Coppola...

While viewing the perfect film Moonrise Kingdom for probably the 30th or so time, we just noticed a few more things that relate to the Lore, and while we don't think director Wes Anderson consciously included Norse elements from his Norwegian-Swedish paternal background, we're taking a moment to point our own Heathen Worldview observations out. Suzy Bishop & Sam Shakusky finally meet in a picturesque field after much postal correspondence, emotional negotiation, and extra-personal angst from their separate situations ... much the same after Freyr & Gerðr finally meet in "The Grove of Tranquil Paths", or the field of Barri in the Poetic Edda's Skírnismál , where they get married. At the performance of Noye's Fludde (possibly a less sanguine diluvial reworking of the killing of Ymir whose flood of blood starts a new chapter of cosmic existence), Sam is not content to stay in his seat with the rest of the scouts, but transgressively gets up and strike...

Perhaps this is our Heathen Worldview's magic binoculars at work, but we see alot of NorsePlay within Moonrise Kingdom 's Suzy Bishop. She's a thoughtful Huginn-esque raven, she wears a transformative bird costume like Freyja, she goes berserkergang and stabs a kid in the lumbar with lefty scissors, starts fighting with some girl in her classroom (war goddess), disagrees vehemently with her family over their possessive intentions (i.e. giving her to the giants for trade at certain points in the Lore), travels with a cat ( Bygul/Trjegul ), willingly suffers for her jewelry (the painful piercing for new earrings scene/Freyja's bargain for Brísingamen), and wanders fearlessly into the wilderness to search for her love (Sam/Óðr).
