the mechanics of becoming álfar.

Alvilldr in fägra points out that we've made the founding fathers & our other celebrated U.S. historical figures American Alfar, and explores what that means in terms of Heathen Worldview. If we extrapolate on this, anyone who gains public reverence or hero worship past their lifetime becomes Alfar. Our question then becomes when does the threshold for Álfar-dom occur? Is that metaphysical promotion via a certain time that person is still being celebrated post-death, or their number of dedicants, or a specific combination of both? And given those requirements who then has cleared these hurdles? Elvis? Einstein? David Bowie? Louise Brooks? Shakespeare? Prince? We keep a picture of George Sand on our writing desk that we must now perhaps consider differently.

Guillermo Maytorena IV knew there was something special in the Norse Lore when he picked up a copy of the d'Aulaires' Norse Gods and Giants at age seven. Since then he's been fascinated by the truthful potency of Norse Mythology, passionately read & studied, embraced Ásatrú, launched the Map of Midgard project, and spearheaded the neologism/brand NorsePlay. If you have employment/opportunities in investigative mythology,  field research, or product development to offer, do contact him.
